About First Presbyterian Church of Durant

First Presbyterian Church is a congregation of the Presbyterian Church (USA).

As a Christian congregation, we are part of the one, holy, catholic, and apostolic church. We believe the Bible is the inspired and authoritative Word of God - God's own words to us and for us - containing all that must be known for our salvation. In addition, we affirm and adhere to to the foundational beliefs of the orthodox (historic) and catholic (universal) Christian faith as they are expressed in the Apostles and Nicene Creeds.

As a Reformed congregation, we celebrate and proclaim the "doctrines of grace." We believe and proclaim God alone as the Author, Securer, and Deliverer of our salvation. Salvation comes to us purely as God's free gift, which we receive and embrace by faith and to which we respond with gratitude to the glory of His name alone. As a Presbyterian congregation, we follow the Presbyterian form of church government and discipline, in which Ruling Elders and Teaching Elders (Ministers) are elected by vote of the whole congregation.

Our History

First Presbyterian Church of Durant has been a beacon of faith and community since 1890. With a rich history rooted in the Reformed tradition, we have been serving and growing with the Durant community for over a century. Our church has seen many changes, but our commitment to faith, fellowship, and service has remained steadfast. We strive to continue as a faithful presence in gratitude to God for the life and work He has given us to share together!
